This is the free-standing clock that stands in Market Street in Ashton, between the Market Hall and Penny Meadow.
The Market Hall can be seen on the left of the photo. To the right of the clock can be seen the old Fire Station, now a pub, estate agents and offices, and next to that is The Ash Tree, Ashton's Wetherspoons pub. The taxi rank can just be seen behind the flower bed.
The Market Hall has a clock tower itself, but this is on the other side of the building, overlooking the Market Place, and is not visible from this side. So this elegant clock was constructed to help people using this busy corner of the town centre.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great clock for C day. Beautiful sky to show it off too. Carver, ABC Wednesday Team
ReplyDeleteWe have a village clock and Birks Jewelry has its famous clock downtown. Also, there is the Steam Clock in Gastown in the downtown area, too. Love yours!

Nice looking clock and the town Hall is pretty sharp looking too.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what will happen if my alarm clock is as big as this. Nice photo!
ReplyDeleteI suspect people walk by it without even looking anymore; more's the pity.

And at a much more pleasant time of the year, temperature-wise, too!
