ABC Wednesday: Dukinfield

Today's post for ABC Wednesday is D for Dukinfield.

Dukinfield is Ashton's nearest neighbour, standing on the hill just across the River Tame. This photo is looking down towards Ashton from the top of Crescent Road and Chapel Street. IKEA is clearly seen on the other side of Ashton town centre. The snow-covered hills visible in the distance are 14 miles away, to the north of Rochdale.

See Google Street View of this location.

  1. Ah yes, plus "I is for Ikea", and "U is for ubiquitous", LOL. It really shouldn't have been a shock, but I have come to associate your blog with idyllic old world England (probably foolish of me), so I was surprised to see the ubiquitous Ikea in the middle of your photo.
And the red car looks very much like my car.
However, I like this photo a lot: the red brick building with white trim, the red post and flower baskets contrasting with the snow in the distance, and the name Crescent Road — there is a Crescent Road on the British Columbia coast which has figured in my life since early childhood.
    Yes, I enjoyed this post!

  2. Nice to see baskets planted despite the snow. My friend is a big Ikea fan, don't know if she has been to this one, I'll have to mention it;-)

  3. Agreed. The place has its charms, but that Ikea must be HUGE!
