Damp Day

Today's post shows the steps and entrance to Ashton Town Hall on a damp winter's day. On each side of the steps is a non-working cannon for decopration!

It might be a damp January day and it might be cold and windy, but the hardy Ashtonians just wrap their clothes a little tighter around them and get out there!

In the background is the Ash Tree, Ashton's branch of the popular Wetherspoon chain of pubs, a good place to escape the cold!

  2. The town hall does not look very busy. Are there offices inside? Great shot!

    1. Eileen - the council offices are in the adjoining building to the left, with an easily accessible entrance at ground level. That entrance is very busy!

  4. If I keep seeing all of these fantastic shots of Australia I might just be moving there! I love this shot. That building is marvelous and you definitely captured the feel of the day!

    Nice...super nice!

  5. I don't see the 'non-working canon' in your photo, perhaps they were on a tea-break. Do they normally stand next to the two cannon which are situated there?

    1. Thank you for your witty observation, Dave. You were quite right, of course. The two canons were made redundant and had been fired. Their place was taken by the two cannons that you observed in the photo.
