At one time a prestigious shopping arcade, off Stamford Street, the whole building that houses Clarence Arcade has undergone refurbishment. While the building itself looks well, it is a pity that the entrance to Arcade is now a closed gate, even in the middle of the day.

My sister attended the Ashton School of Dancing for many years when most buses went down stamford street and when I visited the arcade in 2000, there were lessons still being taught. I could hear the music and instruction through the open door.

Thats a quarter of a mile there and a quarter of a mile back - and walking it in your TuTu is not recommended.
I used to love running through the Arcade and shouting as the high ceilings made your voice all echoey. It was probably because of noisy kids like me that they locked the gates. Was the Ashton School of Dancing formerly the Noreen Dickinson School?
