The Walkers is one of seven sculptures sited along Lord Sheldon Way depicting local leisure pastimes.

Walking is a popular hobby with local countryside on the doorstep and the Pennine moors only a bus ride away.

It's tempting to wonder whether the walkers depicted here are contemplating hopping onto the next bus!

  1. It is a long way between bus stops on Lord Sheldon way!

  2. Nice statue, better because there are two a man and a child.

  3. I would have also liked to have seen some representation of the great horse riding that used to take place on the moss. Galloping across the moss was a favourite thing for me, and it seems to be a forgotten recreation of the 60's.
